First let me assure I'm not trying to be argumentative, but it is never a good
idea to put anti seize on wheel studs .The only lubricant you should use on
studs is penetrating oil as it does not have lubricating properties ,the D.O.T
regulation's at least here in Canada is of the opinion that if it makes it
easier to go on it makes it easier to come off as well.If you want to use anti
seize to prevent the steel nuts from corroding the aluminum wheels then add a
bit to the wheel where the nut makes contact. Also depending on the wheel size
the torque is probably between 100-160 foot pounds, if using a 1/2 inch drive
torque wrench it would be well within the capabilities of most adult males to
surpass and not only damage the wheel 'but also break the stud. I would highly
recommend if you are not well versed in tire /wheel work to at least go see the
pros for advise . Aluminum wheels if over torqued can develop micro fractures
under the nut and not give you much warning when they fail. when it comes to
your safety and motoring peace of mind play it safe . Just to qualify my opinion
I'm not only an old tire and wheel service man ,but also a class a mechanic,but
please don't take my word for go see the pros and see what they tell you . The
problem with opinions is they are very subjective as to the experience of the
person giving them ,and as the tire and wheel industry evolves something we took
for granted 5yrs ago could be illegal today . Good luck with those wheels .
