Re: [a/s] scaring off the new kids (was Concerned Airstreamer)
Sherry,
I'm glad you said something! Although we do plan on putting in solar panels
and whatnot, those things will come 'down the road a ways.' We love the
retro look and feel, and an Airstream is a natural fit with the other things
we love, so price isn't the only reason we're going Vintage, but cost is a
factor. It's why we think we'll be able to get into the trailer in 6 - 8
months instead of 6 - 8 years, and be full timing in 1 -2 years istead of 10
- 20.
I don't mind when people bring up issues like water sanitation safety and
fire safety. It's important to keep in mind the things that could happen,
and to be as prepared as is reasonable. We still have a lot to learn, and
I'm still a little udgy about propane. But I was also a little udgy about
natural gas when I got my first apartment, and I got over it.
Since we don't actually have a trailer yet, we don't know what we don't know
yet! I have a book on RV repair and maintenence, and I'm reading a chapter
or so a week. I don't know, though, which Airstream systems are going to be
really different from the ones in the book, and which ones are going to be
closer. So I read all the messages, and hopefully, by the time I need the
info I'll kind-of know what's going on.
