Pete, I have installed a Hott Rod into our hot water heater from another
trailer not our Airstream. The hot water heater was insulated with "rigid
foam". I cut a rectangular piece of foam out to expose the metal surface of
the tank. An adhesive strip was supplied with the Hott Rod to adhere the
thermostat to the tank. A wire harness was also supplied. If I had to do it
all over again I could probably install it in 15 minutes. The "learning
curve" is what takes up most of the time for me. Joe from Long Island.
