[a/s] Re: GPS [was Top-of-GA to I-75]

I use the Garmin III+ which has on board mapping, so I don't have to connect
the laptop. Garmin sells a CD from which you can download your proposed
route if you want street level detail. The basic unit provides state &
federal highway detail for the entire country without any additions. It
doesn't tell you where to turn, but it sure does a nice job of showing you
where you are without the additional overhead of the computer. It also
makes a really nice night-light on the dash. I find the green glow very
comforting when I'm trucking down an unfamiliar road after dark. The unit
itself will, of course, work with any computer GPS mapping software that
provides for a standard NMEA data interface.
