Yes, the Map'N'Go program when used with Tripmate (I think Delorme has
changed their GPS and now calls it Earthmate) will talk to you.  For example
when traveling down the highway at a gazillion miles  per hour and you want
to go from Interstate "x" to  Interstate "y"  it will tell that Interstate
"y" is coming up in 60 seconds.

You can set the time to whatever you want,  you can even set the voice to
one of their several choices (both male and female).  One thing I don't like
is that many, maybe most roads in the U.S. have multiple names,  i.e.
Interstate, State, local etc.  The voice will give you all the names by
which the road is called.  It takes a little while getting use to  it.  What
I like about the verbal instructions is that often I can be tooling down the
highway in deep conversation with my wife or just in deep thought not paying
attention to where I am and that I will have to make a turn.  The voice
brings me to my senses and reminds me to be vigilant for the next change in
direction I have to make.

The Map'N'Go program costs under $60 if I remember right.  The GPS under
$200 I think.  But then you  probably want to buy the cable that lets you
get power for the GPS from your computer otherwise you'll be buying a lot of
batteries.  It is an add on.  Clever people can build their own.  I was not
clever enough so I bought it.  Then of course you will need a notebook
computer.  If you don't want to fuss around with computer batteries you'll
need an inverter so that  the computer can be run from your cigarette
lighter through the inverter.  The dollars add up.  But I have found it
worthwhile.  Of course the computer can be used for lots of other things.
