As a matter of fact, it _does_. Well, actually, it says "turn EAST" (or
whatever).

I also use the Delorme products. I have their TripMate GPS receiver, and
use it with the Street Atlas USA software in addition to the Map'N'Go, and
also have the Phone Search USA series. They all run on my laptop which is
mounted atop the center console of my Dodge truck when we take a trip. 

The Street Atlas (SA) is more detailed than the Map'N'Go (MNG) for USA
streets (it is hard to imagine the actual level of detail you can zoom down
to - you need to see it), but the MNG has the advantage of also covering
the main Canadian and Mexican roads. You can plan a trip to Alaska on the
MNG, for instance.

I have both the MNG and the SA installed on the hard drive, so I don't have
to tie up the CD drive for them. I put the Phone Search (PS) disk in the CD
(there are seven of them, each keyed to a different section of the USA, so
these need to be changed according to where you are).

PS, which is really a nationwide phone book, comes in handy when you want
to find a listed business/personal address. Say you are in an unfamiliar
town and want to find the restaurants in that town - just call up the PS
and ask for all restaurants (by business codes, which PS gives you). You
then let SA do a lookup of all those addresses and they are plotted on your
map for you, ready for you to drive straight to your choice. Works about 90
percent of the time (not all phone listings give street addresses, and not
all street addresses can be found by SA).

I have been using the GPS this way since early '97, and I don't ever want
to take another trip without it. You can't imagine how helpful it can be in
planning the trip and actually navigating the trip as you drive. MNG even
has a RV park lookup to help you spot a place to stay. I think both of them
show where the interstate rest stops are located.

Navigating unfamiliar cities is easy - you can even see where the one-way
streets are, and let the program plot your route through city streets if
you want.
