[a/s] Tow Vehicles

Hi all,

Thanks to all who responded to our question about trailer 
recommendations. On to the next issue we are struggling with - the tow 
vehicle.

Our basic question is: How do you determine if a vehicle is suitable for 
towing a specific trailer? We've never owned a tow rig before, so we are 
unsure what we should be concerned about. We had assumed that we should 
look at the GVWR of the trailer and simpl find a truck that had a towing 
capacity equal to or greater than that number.

The problem is that we keep seeing cars towing trailers that would never 
meet this criteria. The best recent example is in the Hensley Arrow sales 
video - they show a new 34 foot Airstream being towed by a Cadillac in 
several clips and by a Chrysler in others. Both are modern cars that 
don't have anywhere near the 10,000 pound towing capcacity "required" by 
the trailer.

In general, we'd much rather be looking at a car for towing rather than a 
truck, if this is acceptable. We just don't know how to evaluate the 
situation. Does anyone have any suggestions or pointers to good 
information on the subject?
