Propane is MUCH more volatile than gasoline ... it is a vapor at ordinary
ambient temperatures and pressures, while most of the gasoline is liquid ...
gasoline is a mixture of many different hydrocarbons.  But propane is still much
heavier than air and will collect or "pool" in low places, creating a hazard.

Re: oil industry and public transportation, it was General Motors that bought
out the Los Angeles public transit system and then shut it down.  I worked for
years as a consultant to the oil industry and have no illusions about their
benignity ... but the auto industry is no better.

Of course, without the auto industry, and the oil industry, we wouldn't have RVs
as we know them ... mule power, anyone?
