Re: [a/s] Vents close by themselves

vent shut by self.....

I have three Fantastic Fans installed in my Silver
Streak, all are on thermostats, one has rain sensor
shutter, where it shuts and opens by itself. Does
yours have a thermostat and opener motor on it??? You
can imagine how horrified we were one time to pull in
to a rest area after driving 65 mph and go in to the
trailer and find the "auto-matic Fantastic Fan" had
opened while we were on the freeway, because the
temperature in the trailer had risen too high!! After
that I made sure all of them were turnewd off, not
just shut, as this is the only way this can be
avoided. Thankfully it was the one in the middle
bedroom behind the air conditioner so the wind didn't
effect it and rip it off!

Also it might be negative pressure in your rig that is
causing your fan to be slowly wiggled and sucked
close. Try putting a rubber band around the crank
handle and stretching it to anchor it on a hook. This
tension will keep the handle from swiveling and
lowering the vent. I used to have one that opened all
the time while traveling, (old camp trailer) it was
the road vibration. The rubber band worked GREAT!!!
