The  propane option is available from automotive dealers and aftermaket
sellers nationally.  Usually, it gives you far better engine maint and
somewhat better mileage.  Like any other option, it costs to add it. 
Meanwhile the regular fuel tanks are useless and many times left on the
vehicle -- resale issues--but, the propane can be moved from vehicle to
vehicle with  only a need to set up the engine intakes, etc.so, painless
to put up with the extra weight in the long run.  
There are serious long haul propane powered trucks on the road everyday.
