RE: [a/s] Mildew??

When we restored our "nearly new" '78 Excella last summer, we finally had to
remove and replace all the upholstery and carpet to get rid of the musty
odor. We also removed the curtains.

The foam rubber turned out to be one source of odor (which in stored
trailers is almost always fungal-mold, mildew,--all the same). We tried
everything known to man in the way of cleaners and mildew removers, but it
finally came down to getting the source material out. The little water
leaks, splashes, and just plain atmospheric humidity allow any blown or
tracked in mold spores to grow, even in spotless trailers and boats. BTW, we
saved every shred of original stuff (except the foam and the carpet) so we
could duplicate the original someday if we chose.

While you have everything down and bare, a "bath" of Chlorox in water, will
kill any remaining spores. Use it everywhere. After all that we left it open
for several weeks to dry everything, then closed it and ran a Panda Ozone
generator for several days before reinstalling the flooring and upholstery.
We just checked it last week, and after a long winter's storage in
Milwaukee, it smells like new.

If I had to do it over again, I'd have gotten radical right off the bat and
saved a bunch of time, energy, and money.
