I have a 1989, 29' Excella and replaced the carpet in the living room area.
The original carpet was under everything.  I removed the two folding down
tables and cut the carpet away from the sofa and away from the storage
cabinet designed to store folding chairs.

Then I replaced the carpet with indoor/outdoor carpeting.  The new carpet
has been in for a year and we are reasonably happy with it.  It is a lot
easier to keep clean than the original more plushy carpet.

We have wood flooring in the kitchen area.  I think someday I would like to
extend the wood flooring into the living room and use area rugs on top of
it.
