[a/s] Titles

Are A/S travel trailers supposed to have a title or just a bill of sale?
I bought mine from Wanda and Jerry Burke (Florence,AL) a few years ago
and he said all things were working inside like the AC,heater and so
forth and they turned out not to be working at all.
I was told also that a title was not needed to prove ownership by these
two.
They ripped me off and I will admit I had too much trust in
Airstreamers.
