Re: [a/s] Tires..

I am running LT (Light Truck) tires on my 1989 6800lb 29 footer. I got
these back before I realized that "trailer" tires had stiffer sidewalls to
resist being distorted during tight turns.

I asked the tire "expert" at the recent Sarasota, FL rally (he had a tire
safety seminar) if I should take them off and replace with "Trailer" tires
and he said no, they would work just fine. I guess this is also borne out
by my experience with them - I have about 30-40 k miles on the first two
and about 15 k on the second two without any difficulty whatsoever. They
are "BF Goodrich Commercial LT P235/75R15 M+S, Max Load 2185 lbs at 41
PSI". Got 'em at Sam's Wholesale Club for about $50 each.

In a tight "U" turn, they really look strange, the front tire will squish
to one side (where it contacts the road) and the rear tire will squish to
the other. I don't know if the "trailer" tires I had originally did the
same - I never looked at them in a turn.

I will probably continue to buy these in the future, if Sam's has them when
I need them.
