Re: [a/s] WD-40
I have Dick. I have read that WD-40 is mostly made up of a water
displacement solvent and a very small amount of lubricant. It
will dissolve gum and old grease and free locks and other things
but it leaves very little and a very light lubricant that won't
last long. Now you have dry mechanical parts rubbing against each
other and beginning to rust.
Great for cleaning but the WD-40 Company actually recommends what
Dick just said he does -- follow it up with 3-in-1 oil.
However, on my hitch ball, I would use a good stiff teflon
grease. 3-in-1 oil won't cut it there.
My 2 cents.
