Hi Chuck, When *I* froze my water filter I just wrestled with it til the bottom came out. I didnlt touch the water lines other than to shut them off. DO NOT run water through the trailer unless the filter is turned off.... I learned the hard way ...what a mess!!!! Red truck huh? Very spiffy (c: Hunter
