Re: [a/s] Airstream Conservatory
jrnymn
I live in a fairly urban setting and have a neighbor who has erected what
appears to be the modern version of the Quonset hut....It's a metal
structure that appears to be self supporting via the skin... large
corrugations...currently open on the end, but could have a plastic curtain
or what ever hanging down with some effort...
If you could orient this with the open end South, I think it might fare
better in the cold wind and hot sun of central IL ... I think that a
greenhouse in the Summer sun of Centralia or thereabouts would be tough to
take without a lot of air-conditioning....
I have a number of relatives in upper Michigan and I have noticed a number
of "house trailers" that have been "roofed over".. The roof does not touch
the trailer but covers completely with a 2-3' overhang on the back (side)
and a 10-12' overhang on the front side (door side)...This apparently
provides complete protection from rain and snow and also gives a more
conventional "house appearance"...and a big front porch....with a roof....
In your case, make it a "pull through" and make the porch floor removable
boxes that can be moved to give clearance to the trailer when you feel a
little wanderlust....mmmmmmm a little astro turf on the boxes, ... a nice
lounger... a barbie... I could cut a couple of trees in the back yard.......
