Pete,
Here is a silly idea.
I think it would be pretty easy to make a set of mudflaps similar to those.

Just get a pair of big rubber el cheapo ones, a 1.5 or 2 inch square piece
of steel about 7 or 8 feet long, and a couple "U" bolts.
Put it all together yourself and maybe save a few dollars.
