Tim,
My '72 has a little round,knurled knob in that hole which screws onto a
threaded post and sticks out about 3/4". That is the thing that locks
the lock from the inside. They often come loose and I got tired of
having to screw mine back on so I put some Locktight red on it and
tightened it pretty tight over a year ago and have not had any more
problems with it.
