I checked mine, never thought about it.  I never run the furnace with the 
door open of course.  If it's cold enough to heat, it's too cold to have the 
door open.  I'm sure that was the designer's logic.  

I used to hate the door opening the wrong way, but if it didn't it would 
block a window.  The window I would look out of if someone knocked to see who 
is is before I open the door.

I just remember to always lock the door before I get under way.
