[a/s] GM Duramax Diesel

Jim: Actually the new GM diesel is called the Duramax 6600, a V8
direct injection monster, 300hp, 520 ftlb torque using common rail
injection system. The transmission is the Allison 1000 truck
automatic. Quiet power was the target of the design which is an Isuzu
design built in Illinois. 
GM actually now owns over half of Isuzu, so no problem with parts
availablity. It is specifically designed to be a Powerstroke/Cummins
eater, and does so nicely. For a review on the engine see our diesel
