George..this is a great site.  Have it bookmarked for future reference.

Here's the deal... I got the old cartrudge out and the new one in.  Can't get 
the horseshoe thing in.... I put it all together and realized when I flip the 
handle it falls off )c:

There's a black plastic ring piece.....  bit over an inch tall.  Two grooves 
on the side.  One above the other.  I have no idea where this piece goes.  It 
does seem necessary though (c:

The Home Depot site says this whole project will take an hour.

Jim.. I found the long nosed pliers...they did the job.  Oh, and I have all 
the words down pat...
