Re: [a/s] '97 GMC Suburban

We pulled our 31' with a 1986 3/4 ton suburban for more than 50K miles.
Great towing, but exhaust manifold problems were a pain (though covered by
warranty). Manifold would heat up when pulling long grades and then cool
rapidly on the downhill side, causing the studs to break, manifold(s) to
crack, etc. Replaced one side or the other about every 6000 miles. This was
a carbureted engine with Calif. emission controls, which may have impaired
the internal fuel mixture control. Newer engines with injection and
computer-control engine parameters should be much better. I averaged 9.3 mpg
towing and 9.8 solo. Good Luck!
