One option I know I'll be getting in addition to or instead of a cell plan is 
Pocketmail. Whenever cell access isn't possible, I can still access and send 
email via any phone without any additional gadgets. $9.95/mo unlimited email 
access. No contract. The best price I could find for the Sharp Telemail 
gadget is $109, and Pocketmail offers a $20 rebate off of that.
