Rik,
We have the propane 6,000 BTU Force 10 on our 31 foot sailboat with an
interior space equal to a 21 foot Airstream. On the coldest of SoCal days
in the mid to low 40's F, on rare occasions dipping into the high 30's F
that little heater will drive you right out of the cabin in about 20
minutes. It's a dry heat and the thermostat has an oxygen sensor built in
so you can't asphyxiate yourself leaving it on during the night, etc.
The vent is 1" and off the shelf stainless tubing is all that's needed
for the flue. I happened to use 1" copper with a bit of shimming at the
bottom for a saltier look on our boat. The unit comes with a stainless
steel Charlie Noble that the 1" tubing nestles into on the outside of the
cabin making for a very clean installation. No bulkhead protection is
necessary behind the heater so fitting it is a matter of four screws and the
propane hose.
Just remember, the proper and safe practice is to "T" into an existing
propane line OUTSIDE of the interior cabin space. This holds true for your
Airstream and especially so for any boat.
Actually Jo Ann Wheatley of this list has one in her little Airstream
Bubble so maybe we can get her to offer her thoughts too.
