An Airstream would be an excellent place to be in a thunderstorm, assuming
the wind isn't too strong to cause a problem.

The aluminum exterior is effectively what is called a Faraday cage.  The
electrical charge from the lightning can hit the exterior and eventually
jump to the ground but will not affect the interior.
