"Exploring East & West of the Colorado River Caravan" 

After a leisure breakfast of "fresh picked" strawberries on our cereal, it was off to London Bridge
in Lake Havasu City, where we poked around dozens of shops with English names. As the second most
popular tourist attraction in Arizona (Grand Canyon is first), I was surprised to find tourtisty
products to be the major offering. Today was off season with few visitors. Post cards of peak season
showed thousands of people milling around, buying gifts, renting boats, taking pictures and eating
at picnic tables. The river is the main attraction, probably like the ocean is at Coney Island on
the 4th of July.

Afterwards, we drove around town (small town) and especially the industrial area. Boats (selling,
repairing and storing) are big items here, along with selling used RV's and tow vehicles. It feels
like the southwest is more densely populated with RVers than the northeast. Even the Wal-Mart lot
had 15 RVs parked there with "For Sale" signs in the window and the owners sitting outside in their
lawn chairs. Back in Yuma, the same thing was happening in just about every grocery store parking
lot, including on the street beside the post office. 

This afternoon's Happy Hour was combined with the Driver's Meeting. Most of our group have already
been to Las Vegas and were anxious to return. They filled us in on sights to see, places to eat,
casino floor shows to see and what we could do 24 hours a day for the next three days. Gads! It
sounds more like a destination worthy of spending a month there.

Repair of the screen door frame was done today with a piece of 1/4" scrap aluminum. I cut a 3" piece
the same width as the frame, drilled four holes and pop riveted it to the frame. The result has more
rigidity than I anticipated, blends well with the door and is likely to be a "permanent" fix. While
in the mood, four running lights on the truck and trailer were replaced (with a dab of dielectric
grease on them).  

The Caravan Leader and I put up our three flag poles and flew our flags. While taking them down this
evening, four families (not Airstreamers) stopped to comment on how good they looked. One person
noted that Airstreams and flags go together better than anything else he's seen.
