[VAC] Re: heating and cooling

Andrea,

The answer to your question depends on the condition of the skin, and to
some extent the year of the trailer.

A '60's or earlier model with a highly oxidized (white-gray) exterior will
get warm in the sunshine, summer or winter. Probably warmer than a
fiberglass trailer. Aluminum is not a good insulator, so it would tend to
get colder in the winter, but only when the sun is not shining on it.

Take that same trailer, shine it up like it was when it was new. The sun's
rays now reflect off the trailer so the interior stays remarkably cool. A
great thing in summer, but doesn't help any in winter. But that is what a
furnace is for.

I would believe that the newer trailers have better insulation, but
regulating the interior temperatures of an Airstream is not a problem.

Personally I think that the guy was just trying to badmouth a superior
product so he could sell you a lesser quality one that will be junk in a few
years, so he can sell you another, and another...
