Not on EVERY trailer. My '62 (and many others of various years) had no
Univolt, but a rudimentary dual voltage system: a battery with some 12V
wiring for lights and a few cig. lighter style plugs, and a long cord to
plug into 120V to power a few receptacles and lights. All of my original
light fixtures have 2 bulbs: 1 is 12V, the other is 120V.  The only charging
system for the battery was the tow vehicle connection (and a home charger if
wanted).
Fridge was gas only, as was water heater. Furnace was not forced air, needed
no elec.  These models were designed for very conservative (power-wise)
users.
