[VAC] Re: [Fwd: glass mastic/butyl tape for window panes]

In case any of you have the trouble I did talking to glass shops, they
aren't all familiar with the terminology "mastic tape". In this part of the
world they seem to refer to it as "butyl tape". If that doesn't ring a bell,
ask about the stuff they use to install storefront glass and mirrors. I
found 1/8" x 1/2", and it works fine. Just trim away the excess with a razor
blade after you've installed the glass retainer strip on the other side.
Be careful to support the frame throughout this process - the latch
mechanisms which stand out from the bottom inside frame piece can give you
an uneven bearing surface, which can lead to a broken pane (aka pane in the
glass). I speak from experience.
