Re: [VAC] Lighting Catalytic & "120v" furnace.

Hi Tim
Just have operating instructions dated F/69 for Type 310 TE
as follows:

1. and 2. refers to hooking up the bottle and turning on

3. See that the heater regulating knob is in the shut
position. ( If it is not, the starting push-button cannot be
operated. A lock is provided between the starting button and
the regulating knob in order to prevent any misuse of the
starting device while the heater is operating). {mine has a
starting lever on the left you slide toward the door}

4. Light a match and push starting button. Keep the button
in the open position with one hand. Ignite the gas which
comes out at the lowest part in the center of the heating
screen.

5. Hold the starting push button in the open position for no
longer than one minute to allow the flames to run through
the entire surface to ensure full pre-heating of heating
screen. When the starting push-button is released it will
automatically return to the closed position.

Note. -- If excessive flaming occurs, it may be regulated by
releasing the starting push button for a short time time to
allow excess gas to burn away. By pushing the starting
button on and off several times during the one minute of
pre-heating, any excessive flaming can be controlled.

Operation

    Heater is now working and the regulating knob can be
turned counter-clockwise to the desired heating rate. Heat
output can be regulated from a low output of 1,600 B.T.U.'s
per hour to a high output of 6,000 B.T.U.'s per hour.

Note. -- Do not set the regulating knob in the red segment.
Heater will not operate in this position. {mine has a "band"
or "bar" area on the knob, all markings are brown}

To Extinguish

    Turn regulating knob to the shut-position

Very Important

    A patented thermostatic safety device prevents
uncatalysed gas from escaping into the atmosphere by
shutting off the gas supply whenever the heating screen
falls below a pre-determined temperature. I anything goes
wrong after pre heating, the heater will automatically shut
off.

Ventilation

    {it says "normal ventilation is required." There was a
thread on this here or on another related site, one square
inch per 1000 BTU? Maybe someone else can help.}

Hope this helps,
Bill
