Re: [VAC] small ka-boom in Suburban furnace

I am giving more information, but not really an answer. :)

My furnace behaved the same at the beginning of the season. Every time the
flame went out, it was accompanied by the explosion. It acted that way
through two refills of our small propane tanks. Also, the water heater
pilot would go out from time to time. After I got a 250# tank plumbed in,
all of the gas appliances started working much better.

So, I have several theories:
1) It just took some time to clean out the lines -- the new tank was a
coincidence.
2) The propane is better quality in the new tank.
3) There is better (more consistent) pressure in the new tank and regulator
4) Somehow the old tanks/regulator/cracked hoses were contaminating the
propane.

Number 2 is unfounded, as I had 2 reputable companies fill the small tanks.
I don't think 4 plays a part. I plan on putting a new regulator and hoses
on when I return the old tanks, so that will take care of 1 and 3. I may
never know the real answer...

Anybody else have more theories, or more educated guesses?
