Rj, thanks for your reply.  The lack of a sewer cap is the problem.  When I 
purchased the unit years ago, it had the plastic expandable sewer line 
attached to the metal fitting and then that was capped off at the end.  There 
was no way to cap off the sewer line if you removed the sewer hose. The metal 
fitting just has tapered smooth sides.  In trying to remedy this, I ran into 
the problem of not being able to find a fitting to put a cap on.  I have 
several caps, several adaptors and none fits.  Your idea of reusing the 
original makes the most sense, I didn't know the sewer hose came in different 
sizes, the common one is too small.  This still leaves me with the problem of 
no cap for the sewer line when I take off the new, larger hose.
Dave, you are confirming what I thought, obsolete part, but I know there must 
be a cheaper fix somehow.  I've probably got $30 worth of adaptors already 
:o( !
