Roy is right about the 'Dutchman's cap', or 'Whale tail'.  It got the
name because it looks like  a Dutchman's cap, or a whale tail.  For a
picture, go to page 10 of the new December 1999 Blue Beret.  There is a
story about a 1956  24' custom A/S built for the Air Force as a mobile
control tower last used at airstrips in Fiji.  It was given to the New
Zealand Air Force, courtesy of the US taxpayer, then later transferred
to some lucky Kiwi in Queenstown, NZ.  It has since been sold to a film
company in Queenstown.  It has two doors. one on each side for safety.
I think the Dutchman's cap came out of Santa Fe Springs, California, and
was an effort to use fewer rivets and less labor.
