RE: [A/S] Truck bedliner
You are correct about problems under a plastic bed liner. Another problem
with a drop-in bed liner and a bed cap is developing water leaks along the
rails. Most caps are designed to sit directly on bare bed rails. Cap
installers usually recommend removing drop-in liners before installing a
cap.
If you get a spray-in liner tell them NOT to spray on to the tops of the bed
rails, again because of the possibility of developing a water leak.
When it comes to the spray-in liner, ask around. There are two different
processes, hot application and cold application. There are many differences
and reasons to select one over the other. Line-X (hot) and Rhino (cold) are
the largest franchises of the two different processes.
