I'm not sure what satellite service you subscribe to
but obviously they don't want you to have two
receivers both shown as being in your home, and have
one of those two on the road permanently.  This would
be like your neighbor having a dish, you order two
receivers for you house, but instead give him one and
split the cost of the total service.  It saves both of
you money.

Quite honestly the only way the satellite provider can
know that you are doing this is the phone line. 
That's why they insist upon you keeping these
connected so that the receiver can dial back in and
caller ID will verify where the call is coming from. 
If you miss too many dial backs, the satellite
provider begins to wonder if the receiver truly is in
your home.

Occasional use isn't a problem.  But I would guess
being a snowbird might raise a flag.
