I don't know what the valve is but we had a similar problem with damp carpet 
in our rear bedroom a few years back (we have a '99 with rear twins).  We 
discovered we have a leak in the rear storage compartment.  There was plastic over 
the carpet there and the carpet underneath was soaked.  The leak was around 
the tail lights. The carpet in the bedroom became wet also.
