[A/S] Light Bulb Sockets Failing
I have had 2 light bulb sockets in my 96 Excella fail recently. The
plunger in the socket breaks.
There is a spring behind a black button inside the socket. The hot wire
contacts the bulb because the button is molded around the hot wire and
the spring, being behind the button, keeps the hot wire and the button
in contact with the bulb. But if the button breaks then the spring
doesn't function and the hot wire loses contact with the bulb.
This seems like a safety (or possibly a recall) issue because I would
think that this must be a common failure and because the hot wire could
short to ground.
Has anyone else had this problem?
