I would upgrade to 50amp service wiring (ie 4 conductor vs 3 conductor),
even if you terminate it with a 30amp receptacle. Having the proper wiring
for 50amp service will not add substantially to the upfront costs and will
give you the option to upgrade to full 50amp service at a later date without
having to rewire (just make the changes at the breaker box and install a 50
amp receptacle).
