I ran across the same problem when the jack on my 17' Caravel gave up.  The
easy solution seemed to be using a die grinder and just making the hole a
little bigger.  After going through a bunch of little grinding wheels I
borrowed a cutting torch and took care of the problem.  Then I cleaned it up
with the little grinder...  It actually came out very well.  I did not set
anything on fire or burn myself too badly.
