Oliver, you always ask such good questions. I cannot answer the 
above but here is an interesting aside. It has been assumed that one 
acheives better fuel economy by driving with the tailgate down on a 
pickup. However, if you have ever left a few aluminum cans or other 
light weight items in the back of a truck you will note they most 
often do not blow out with the tailgate up. That leads me to believe 
the slip-stream of air reunites well to the rear of the vehicle and 
if pulling a trailer it would likely be blasting the front of it. A 
camper shell would raise the air flow. Huh? Lets not factor in 
additional weight. There may be huge holes in this thinking.  Jon
