Re: [A/S] boondocking in the snow

You certainly can do the ski resort thing with some adjustment to the
norm. Typically the 12V battery, being in good condition and charged,
will run a furnace over night. We do it every year at the Sun Valley
Jazz Festival Rally, usually running two or more coaches on one generator.

You might want to consider setting the furnace a little lower say 60ish.
This will keep everything, at least in a classic trailer, warm. The
Safari's and Bambi's are not set up for full use in cold weather because
their tanks are exposed or nearly so.

Run a generator for battery charging during the day. Since you will just
be battery charging a small generator is more than adequate. A two 2000w
generator setup would only be needed for high draw appliances like a
heat pump/air conditioner.

You also might come up with some scheme to secure the generator to your
trailer, say with a chain and some locks. That bright colored, very
portable genset will make a tempting target.
