Certainly do have "history" on the american manufacturers, and their current
state reflects it.
Your fixation on the Nissan/Renault connection is interesting, I doubt if
the truck contains a single
 french part. A lot of folks seem to be voting with their pocketbook as to
the quality produced by the japanese majors. As the japanese muscle into a
market they offer some exceptional deals, always been that way. I would have
loved to replace my aging Dodge/Cummins with a new one but the price was
daunting. I used my "90-50" rule, is it 90% of the vehicle for 50% of the
price? In this case it was very close, just as it was in the early 90's when
a Q45 was 45k and a Mercedes 500SEL 90K.
