In the 30 odd years that I have used #M 5200 calk in all  aplications mostly 
in marine use and for below water line use through Hull  fittings and for 
bedding the shaft log. I also I have never seen any of the  problems you describe. 
Nor have I ever experienced problems with mould.As far as  problems with 
ageing when I built my former home in 1967 I used 5200 to calk all  window and 
door frames and when I sold it in 1999 the calk was holding as good  as when 1st 
built.The new clearance on the Silver Albatross replaced in 1999  bedded in 
5200 are still holding So tightly that I gave up trying to remove them  to 
replace with the new LED lights.
