[A/S] Microwave on an inverter?

Hi All,

     Can a microwave be run off an inverter, presuming the inverter 
has adequate capacity? I have read that do to the square signwave 
supplied by the inverter, it may harm the microwave. Any experienced 
user out there with some help would greatly appreciated.
