Nissan put a lot of effort into the Titan tow package. Lower transmission
gearing for first and second gear in the automatic provides the equivalent
of  a 4:11 rear differential coming off the line. A "tow mode" switch
reprograms engine and transmission for towing. The 5 speed automatic is
superb and towing in the flatlands the engine just loafs. I owned one of the
early Q-45's and from experience I can tell you that V-8 is a monster! The
early Q's were rated at 275hp because the Japanese tax system heavily
penalized any car with more power the engine was actually 325hp when they
arrived here. Modern gas engines do seem longer lived than they used to be
and unless diesel prices change (which I doubt) it is getting harder (at
least for me) to check that $6000 diesel engine option.
