Charlie,
Assuming the layout of the unit you're referring to is the same as my
'75 Sov, the most logical place would be curbside, just forward of the
wheel well. It would eat into the pantry storage. A prime
considerations would be the shape of the outriggers of the frame, and
the amount of reinforcement required to carry the weight. I would not
consider putting it in the wardrobe area, aft of the wheels as I can't
think the extra weight aft of center of lift would help your weight
and balance.
Don't forget to consider side to side balance as well. A thorough
analysis of individual wheel loading (as well as tongue weight) would
be the first step if I were doing the job.
Don't forget, those frame outriggers are designed to carry the
distributed load of the coach, and a genset is a fairly heavy point
source load.
For my money, the bed of the truck is the place to keep a genset.
Especially if you wind up with more than one trailer.
