Good point Kevin,
In addition to my 59 Ambassador International with original wood bunk beds,
I also have a 63 Trade Wind International with original wood bunk beds in
the same design as the 59. 64 may be the change over year from wood bunks to
aluminum framed bunks. I have been on the wood framed bunks and they can
definitely hold more than 90 lbs. The load from the wood framed bunks is
supported by horizontal wood braces mounted on the bulkheads on both ends,
and not just a cable & attachment riveted to the ceiling. We have had
clients, later 60's era trailers in our shop with the ceiling brackets you
refer to and strangely enough they are only riveted to the inner skin
material and not positioned where a rib is. Poor design in my opinion, but
as they are only rated for 90 lbs, I guess it worked fine.
