Hunter,

I did it for several reasons. They do increase your visibility in poor 
visual driving conditions, e.g. fog, rain,snow, and dust. Not that I 
would seek them out, rather sometimes things sneak up on you and you 
need to get out of the way. They do increase the range that others can 
see you and when you apply brakes. And, most importantly they are way COOL!!
All very sensible and logical reasons don't you think.
