We've been doing exactly that.  For the past year, Wi-Fi has been sufficiently available that we've not needed anything else.  We do have a 
basic contract with Cingular, but that's primarily because we already had it -- so inertia has prevented us from switching to VOI.  We primarily 
use DVD's instead of TV, though we have been watching WWV-TV since Katrina went through.  Works for us.
